4,039 COVID-19 patients recover in Khulna division

KHULNA, July 18, 2020 (BSS) – The total number of recovered coronavirus (COVID-19) patients rose to 4,039 with healing of 153 more people in a day among 8,760 infected people in the division in last 24 hours till today’s noon.

“A total of 4,039 coronavirus patients recovered so far and the percentage of recovery rate stands at 46.11 in the division,” Assistant Director (Health) of Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter told BSS today.

The district-wise numbers of recovered patients are 1,481 in Khulna, 672 in Kushtia, 629 in Jashore, 244 in Bagerhat, 213 in Chuadanga, 211 in Narail, 198 in Jhenaidah, 168 in Satkhira, 147 in Magura and 76 in Meherpur under the division, she mentioned.

“The healed patients were discharged from home isolations and Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the division after disappearance of all symptoms and two consecutive real-time PCR tests were found negative,” she said, adding that the total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 8,760 with 320 new positive cases were reported after testing 382 samples at the respective COVID-19 laboratories in the division in the last 24 hours till this noon.

The health officials said the newly detected 320 COVID-19 patients are 80 in Khulna, 71 in Jashore, 38 in Kushtia, 33 in Bagerhat, 34 in Jhenaidah, 23 in Narail, 14 in Chuadanga, 11 each in Magura and Satkhira, five in Meherpur districts in the division.

“Among the total 8,760 COVID-19 patients, 3,513 are in Khulna, 1,303 in Jashore, 1,141 in Kushtia, 621 in Jhenaidah, 509 in Narail, 487 in Satkhira, 394 in Bagerhat, 364 in Chuadanga, 303 in Magura and 125 in Meherpur districts” Dr. Ferdousi said.

“Among the total 8,760 coronavirus infected persons, 914 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals as 4,039 have recovered and 149 died while the rest are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, she said.

With the two more deaths the total number of fatalities now reached 149 in the division.

“The district-wise break-up of the fatalities remains at 51 in Khulna, 22 in Kushtia, 19 in Jashore, 12 in Satkhira, 11 in Jhenaidah, nine in Bagerhat, eight in Narail, seven in Magura, six in Meherpur and four in Chuadanga districts in the division”, she added.

Currently, the fatality rate among the total 8,760 Covid-19 patients stands at little over 1.70 percent in the division.

“Since the beginning from March 10 last, a total of 46,640 people were put in quarantine and of them, 43,926 released and 2,714 are currently remaining in home or institutional quarantine in Khulna division,” she further said, adding that 184 people were put in quarantine at home or institutions and 195 others released in the division during the last 24 hours till today’s noon.
