COVID-19 cases cross 12,300 in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, July 16, 2020 (BSS) – The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases crossed 12,300 mark as 399 more new patients were diagnosed with the lethal virus at five laboratories after testing 2,522 samples in the district in the last 24 hours.

“The total numbers of COVID-19 patients now stand at 12,330 only in Chattogram district till today,” Civil surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi told BSS today.

Among the newly detected COVID-19 patients, 313 are the residents of the port city and the rest 86 are residents of different upazilas of the district.

Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said that with today’s three deaths the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) deaths in the district reached 227.

A total of 1,475 persons were released from the hospital after recovery from COVID-19 infection till today, he added.

Dr Rabbi said that 62 new COVID-19 patients were diagnosed with the coronavirus at BITID, Chattogram after testing 573 samples in the last 24 hours.

A total of 41 new COVID-19 patients were diagnosed with the coronavirus at Chattogram University after testing 144 samples in the last 24 hours.

254 more new COVID-19 patients were tested corona positive at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) after testing 1520 samples during the same period.

Besides, six more new COVID-19 patients were identified at Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Science University (CVASU) after testing 38 samples, the civil surgeon said.

On the other hand, 36 more corona patients were identified at the city’s Imperial Hospital after testing 237 samples during the same period.
