Record 119 positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, July 15, 2020 (BSS) – The record number of 119 more people were tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) in a day since the beginning after testing their samples today at the two laboratories in Rangpur division.

Health officials said the 119 new infected cases were reported after diagnosing 376 samples collected from all eight districts in the division at the laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur today.

Of them, 72 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory today at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The new 72 patients include 34 of Rangpur, 12 of Gaibandha, 10 of Lalmonirhat and 16 of Kurigram districts,” Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu said.

On the other hand, 47 more new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 47 new COVID-19 patients include 35 of Dinajpur, nine of Panchagarh and three of Nilphamari districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Shibesh Sarker told BSS after completing the testing process at 6:50 pm.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients jumped to 4,417 as 119 new cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise breakup of the patients stands at 1,359 in Rangpur, 189 in Panchagarh, 501 in Nilphamari, 224 in Lalmonirhat, 302 in Kurigram, 267 in Thakurgaon, 1,074 in Dinajpur and 501 Gaibandha of the division,” he added.
