Govt continues relief assistance amid Covid-19 crisis
DHAKA, July 15, 2020 (BSS) – The government is continuing relief distribution across the country as part of its humanitarian assistance to reduce people’s sufferings amid the corona virus pandemic.
The government has so far provided relief to 7 crore 39 lakh 56 thousand 144 people of about 1 crore 69 lakh 18 thousand 82 families across the country, said a release.
According to the information received from the district administrations of 64 districts, around 2,14,539 metric tons of rice have been allocated as relief, while 1,98,451 metric tons have been distributed as of July 14.
The government has so far allocated more than Tk125 crore in cash as relief for distribution.
Of the total amount, Tk98,53,28,164 has been allocated as cash assistance and Tk95 ,4,54,530 has already been distributed.
Moreover, Tk27.23 crore was allocated for baby food aid while about Tk26 crore 42 lakh 1 thousand has already been distributed among about 18 lakh 54 thousand 222 people of about 8 lakh 70 thousand 158 families across the country.
