DHAKA, July 15, 2020 (BSS) – The international Blockchain Olympiad (IBCOL) 2020 has conferred award of merit to all the 12 projects of Bangladesh teams submitted in the International Blockchain Olympiad IBCOL) 2020 competition held in Hong Kong from 3-5 July.
The IBCOL in its website (www.ibcol.org) on 13 July published the names of all 12 award of merit winner Bangladesh teams with their projects along with the teams and projects of 9 other countries which won awards of merit, said a press release.
Earlier, two projects of Bangladesh’s 12 teams from among the 60 teams of 15 countries of the world won a Silver Medal Award (Team Digital Innovation) and a Best Prototype Award (Team DU Nimbus) in the IBCOL 2020 competition.
The number of projects of other countries of the world that won IBCOL 2020 award of merit are: Hong Kong 12, Canada 2, China 2, Poland 2, Netherlands 2, Taiwan 1, USA 1, Philippines 1 and Vietnam 1.
The 12 projects of Bangladesh teams are: Health Ledger of Hyperactive Oranges; Track, Trace and Verify Insulin Medicine of Leads Chain; National blockchain driven private cloud-based platform for Bangladesh: adopted in land administration of DU_Numbus; Decentralized Identity and Aid Distribution Platform for Rohingya Refugees of Team Digital of Digital Innovation; Meditech Bangla of Torr, Probaho-Decentralised VAT Automation Network for Ensuring Economic Growth of WEB_3.1; RETransparentNET, A platform for secure Transaction in the real-estate Industry of Brogrammers,; Arun: Document Verification platform of Aviato; ReliChain: Trust and Transparency in Relief Supply Chain of DU_Hyperledger; Blockchain to Prevent Public Health Risks Caused by Counterfeit Skin and Health Care Products of Cosmic Crew; BONTON, A Transparent Relief Distribution Using Blockchain Technology of Code Nine BD; and AprChain of BUET_SKAMers_1.
Reacting on achieving merit awards Convener of Blockchain Olympiad Bangladesh (BCOLBD) Professor Dr Md Kaykobad said winning a Silver Medal and a Best Prototype award and 12 awards of merit is a great success as well as inspiring for not only the 12 teams, but also for Bangladesh.
The government especially ICT Division and LICT project have shown a very positive attitude and support to participate in the IBCOL 2020 during Covid-19 pandemic, he said.
“We are happy to make partnership with Blockchain Olympiad Bangladesh (BCOLBD) to select the 12 teams from Bangladesh for IBCOL 2020 competition,” said LICT Project Director Md Rezaul Karim.
LICT Policy Adviser Sami Ahmed said young talents of Bangladesh have once again proved that they are innovative and capable to compete in any international competition on frontier technologies which are going to accelerate the fourth industrial revolution at an exponential pace.
Coordinator of BCOLBD Habibullah N Karim urged the government to nurture the innovation coming out through the various competitions including the latest IBCOL.
