DNCC fines over Tk 21 lakhs during anti-aedes drive
DHAKA, July 14, 2020 (BSS) – Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) found Aedes mosquito larvae at 898 houses and establishments and fined over Taka 21 lakh in the second-phase of its combining operation to eliminate mosquitoes.
Stagnant water and breeding ground of the mosquito were found at 78,130 establishments including houses and under-construction buildings during the drive.
Today was the last day of the operation, said a press release.
During the drive of the last day, the city corporation teams visited 11,934 houses and fines Tk one lakh forty-five thousand, under construction buildings and establishments, according to a DNCC official.
DNCC started the second phase 10-day combing operation on July 4 under DNCC areas to destroy all breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes, carriers of both dengue and chikungunya.
During the drive, the operation starts from 10 am and continues till 1 pm every day except Friday.
The wards were divided into ten sectors and each sector had 10 sub-sectors to make the operation successful, said a press release of the DNCC.
A team comprising four garbage management workers and one spray-man took part in the operation in each sub-sector, while 40 garbage management workers and 10 spray-men participated in each sector in the drive every day.
