Jamuna group chairman Babul passes away

DHAKA, July 13, 2020 (BSS) – Leading businessman and chairman of Jamuna Group Nurul Islam Babul passed away this afternoon with Covid-19. He was 74.

Editor of Daily Jugantar and President of Jatiya Press Club Saiful Alam told BSS that the Jamuna Group chairman breathed his last at around 3:40pm while he was taking treatment at Evercare Hospital.

According to his family sources, Nurul Islam Babul was being treated with Covid-19 infection at a hospital since June 14.

Babul also owned a private television-Jamuna TV and a Bangla language daily newspaper-Daily Jugantar.

Saiful Alam, however, said family members of Babul will decide about the time and place of his burial.

Babul is survived by his wife Salma Islam, a son, three daughters and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.

His wife Salma Islam was former state minister for women and children affairs and incumbent Member of Parliament, son Shamim Islam and daughters Rojalin Islam, Monica Islam and Saniya Islam were director of Jamuna Group.
