DHAKA, July 13, 2020 (BSS) – The government today asked its officers and employees not to leave their respective workstations during the upcoming Eid holidays due to the situation arising out of the coronavirus pandemic.
The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
“The three-day holidays on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Azha would not be extended further and the government officers and employees have been directed no to leave their respective workstations or headquarters,” Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam told a news briefing after the meeting when his attention was drawn about government’s instructions during Eid holidays.
The Premier joined the meeting from her official residence Ganabhaban while ministers and secretaries attended it from the Bangladesh Secretariat here through a videoconference.
The Eid-ul-Azha holidays will be from July 31 to August 2 (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) if the Eid is observed on August 1. And, if the Eid is observed on July 31 (Friday) then the Eid holidays will be from July 30 to August 1 (Thursday, Friday and Saturday). In both cases, two days of the three-day holidays are weekend holidays.
