Stocks witness flat despite higher transactions

DHAKA, July 13, 2020 (BSS) – The country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), today closed slightly downfall, after last week’s closure in green, as investors caused selling pressure for profit taking.

At DSE, the broad index, DSEX settled at 4,089.52 points on Sunday with a marginal loss of 9.91 points or 0.24 percent.

Besides two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and Shariah index, DSES also went down slightly by 7.64 points and 4.02 points to settle at 1376.07 points and 950.85 points respectively.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 83,302 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 11.93 million securities.

Market turnover, another crucial indicator, stood at Taka 3,779.56 million which is higher than of previous day’s Taka 3,469.65 million.

Out of 348 issues traded, 57 securities gained price while 127 declined and 164 remained unchanged.

The top five gainers were Paramount, GQ Ball Pen, Hakkani Pulp, Sonar Bangla Insurance and UCB.

The five top losers were ARAMITCEM, MLDYEING, SEMLFBSLGF, Family Tex and Dacca Dyeing.

On the other hand, port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed trading at slightly green from the losing streak of previous day.

CSCX and CASPI increased by 4.17 points and 5.85 points to stand at 7,033.92 points and 11,606.71 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 6,866,463 shares and mutual funds of 201 companies were traded, of which 43 issues advanced while 66 declined and 92 issues remained unchanged.
