84 more positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, July 12, 2020 (BSS) – Eighty-four more people were tested
positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) after testing their samples today
at the two COVID-19 Laboratories in Rangpur division.

Health officials said the new 84 infected cases were reported after
diagnosing only 282 collected samples from all eight districts in the
division at the two laboratories at Rangpur and Dinajpur.

Of them, 49 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples
at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in
Rangpur city.

“The new 49 patients include 26 of Rangpur, 10 of Kurigram, four of
Lalmonirhat and nine of Gaibandha districts,” Chief of Divisional
Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC
Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu said.

Besides, 35 more new patients were reported after diagnosing only 94
samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College
(MARMC) in Dinajpur.

“The 35 new COVID-19 patients include 28 of Dinajpur, five of
Panchagarh and two of Nilphamari districts,” Principal of MARMC
Professor Dr. Shibesh Sarker told BSS.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur
division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients
rose to 4,125 as 84 new cases were reported from across the division.

“Among the total 4,125 COVID-19 patients, 1,276 are of Rangpur, 176
of Panchagarh, 485 of Nilphamari, 209 of Lalmonirhat, 279 of Kurigram,
256 of Thakurgaon, 970 of Dinajpur and 474 of Gaibandha districts in
the division,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
