Govt ready to face flood: Shameem

DHAKA, July 12, 2020 (BSS) – Deputy Minister for Water Resources AKM Enamul Hoque Shameem today said the government has taken all-out preparations to face the current flood.

“The flood situation has been being monitored since the beginning of the monsoon season in the last April. Preparations have been made in advance to control the flood situation under the direction of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he said.

Enamul Hoque Shameem made the remarks while talking to the reporters at his office in the Secretariat, said a press release.

Earlier, he held a meetings with the ministry, the director general of the Water Development Board and the head of the task force.

The Deputy Minister said, the government is monitoring the flood situation all the time. “Even today, I have talked to the deputy commissioners and executive engineers of 22 districts and given necessary instructions,” he added.

He said “Flood and river erosion areas have been identified across the country. I have visited 54 erosion areas in 30 districts with senior officials. Immediate action has been taken by identifying the risky erosion areas.”
