Meeting on law and order held via online in Khulna

KHULNA, July 12, 2020 (BSS) – A meeting on law and order in the district was held here today with a call to take stringent approach to prevent the community transmission of Covid-19 and eliminating terrorism, militancy and drug abuse from the society.

The monthly meeting was held through online at the deputy commissioner’s (DC) conference room in the city with DC Md Helal Hossain in the chair.

The meeting reviewed overall law and order situation and took some decision for the next course of actions to improve the law and order situation in the city and district.

It also decided that the lockdown wards (No-17 and 24) of the city and Aichgati union under Rupsha upazila of the district will be relaxed from July 16 as the rate of coronavirus infection in these areas has already come down significantly.

Speakers urged all authorities concerned for working with people in coordinate approach to prevent COVID-19 spread and provide health services to infected patients to face the situation.

“Everyone should sincerely maintain physical distance, abide by the health directives and wear masks to remain safe along with preventing community transmission of COVID-19,” they added.

The meeting also informed that an initiative was taken to install a high flow nasal canola for treatment at Covid-19 hospital.

The meeting further informed that the implementation of hygiene laws to prevent coronavirus infection will continue. Special steps will be taken to ensure that the animals will be traded in accordance with the hygiene rules at the sacrificial animal market. There will also be an online campaign for the purchase of sacrificial animals.

Speakers said business community will have to play a responsible role for ensuring fair price and sufficient supply of essential commodities during upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. The government will provide all necessary supports to the businessmen. They have to run their business with the right profit, they added.

The meeting reviewed overall law and order situation and took decisions to control illegal drugs in order to save our young generation from its abuse.

The meeting asked the law enforcers to take strong measures against the drug peddlers in collaboration with the community leaders and public representatives.

It also laid stress on raising massive awareness against drugs and urged the law enforcers to carry out special campaign to combat drug abuse side by side terrorism and militancy.

Upazila Parishad Chairmen, Upazila Nirbahi Officers, Officials and representatives of local government bodies also joined the meeting via online.
