ACC conducts sudden drive in govt transport pool

DHAKA, June 26, 2018 (BSS) – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday
conducted a surprise drive in the Department of Government Transport Pool on
Abdul Gani road adjacent to Bangladesh secretariat upon receiving a graft
allegation over the hotline 106.

“As part of initiative to ensure the rule of law at the public offices, the
ACC has started conducting drives over allegations of corruption received by
ACC hotline 106,” said Director General (admin) of the commission Muhammad
Munir Cowdhury.

A six-member team of the commission led by deputy director (DD) Wakil Ahmed
conducted a sudden drive in the Department of Government Transport Pool
following receiving an allegation of withdrawing extra money by showing fake
documents of expenditure regarding purchase and maintenance of the government
transports, deputy director (public relations) Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee
told BSS.

During the drive, the ACC team has scrutinized expenditure budget of the
public transport pool for the fiscal 2011-12 and 2017-18, vouchers of real
expenditure and purchase related information, he also said.

Commissioner of the Department of Government Transport Pool informed the
ACC team that they are purchasing necessary things under the market rate
following framework system.

The commissioner also said that the public money could be saved with
strengthening the capability to monitor all the vehicles of the transport
pool.
