Rangpur corona hospital attains 79.29pc recovery rate
RANGPUR, July 12, 2020 (BSS) – The Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospital (DCIH) in Rangpur city attained an average recovery rate of 79.29 percent among the total under treatment patients so far since its inception on April 19 last.
Health officials said the hospital has already earned a solid public confidence as a quality health service provider to the fatal virus infected persons ensuring quality treatments.
Talking to BSS, DCIH Superintendent Dr. SM Nurun Nabi said the hospital, an extended makeshift health care centre of Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH), already discharged 203 patients after their full recovery till this morning.
A total 259 COVID-19 patients have so far been admitted to the hospital, and of them, three critically sick persons with multiple health complexities were referred to Dhaka for advanced treatments.
“Among the rest of 256 under treatment patients, 203 have so far been discharged from the hospital after providing treatments to attain an average recovery rate of 79.29 percent,” Dr. Nabi said.
The recovered COVID-19 patients were discharged from the hospital after disappearance of all related symptoms and they were found to have coronavirus negative in two consecutive real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests.
Eight COVID-19 patients were discharged from the hospital on Saturday by bidding them farewell in a function arranged at its compound with ‘recovery certificates’ and flowers.
The last eight discharged patients are Manik Kumar Roy, 38, Sheikh Niaz Ahmed, 60, Shahin Prodhan, 55, Mozammel Haque, 75, Dolan Chandra, 52, Manik Roy, 47, Shahidul Islam, 40, and Milan Miah, 32.
“Currently, 39 patients are undergoing treatment at the DCIH, including six in its modernised intensive care unit (ICU),” Dr. Nabi said.
So far, a total of 14 COVID-19 patients (mostly aged between 65 and 85 years) died at the hospital with multiple complexities, he added.
Talking to BSS after their release from the DCIH following the recovery from COVID-19 infection on Saturday, Sheikh Niaz Ahmed, 60, of Rangpur city and Mozammel Haque, 75, of Badarganj upazila said they got excellent treatments at the facility.
Dolan Chandra, 52, of Lalmonirhat and Manik Roy, 47, of Nilphamari highly lauded the dedication and sincerity of physicians, nurses and staff of the hospital in providing health services to the admitted patients round the clock.
Shahin Prodhan, 55, of Mithapukur upazila in Rangpur expressed his deep gratitude to doctors, nurses and other staff at the DCIH for providing treatments to COVID-19 patients with attaching special priority and taking care like their own relatives.
Talking to BSS, Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu said doctors, nurses and other staff of the DCIH in Rangpur are performing excellently.
“The authorities concerned have engaged continuous efforts to increase facilities at the 100-bed DCIH, having 90 general beds and a modernised ICU with 10 beds and 10 ventilators, to further improve quality of health services there,” he added.
