2 held with 11,000 yaba tablets in city’s Shyamoli area
DHAKA, July 11, 2020 (BSS) – Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-2 arrested two professional drug dealers along with 11,000 pieces of contraband yaba tablets in the capital’s Shyamoli area on Friday.
The arrested drug dealers were identified as- Md Hridoy Hossen and Md Anas. Another drug dealer named Helal managed to flee away from the spot.
Sujoy Sarker, deputy director (media) of RAB Headquarters, confirmed the matter to BSS saying that at around 1.30 pm, RAB set up a check post in front of Shyamoli Square and detained them along with the yaba tablets.
“They were going to Savar from Cumilla by a CNG-run auto rickshaw. As the auto rickshaw reached near the check post the drug peddlers tried to flee,” RAB Second Crime Prevention Company (CPC 2) Commanding Officer Major H M Parvez Arefin said.
Later, RAB recovered the yaba tablets worth about Taka 35 lakh after searching their bags, he said.
“All the detainees are professional drug dealers. They supply large quantities of drugs as per demand. They entered Dhaka by CNG last night to deliver the yaba consignment at Hemayetpur in Savar,” added the official.
A case was filed with concerned police station under the Narcotics Control Act in this regard.
