Nasrulurges officials to increase quality services in power sector
DHAKA, July 8, 2020 BSS) – State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid, MP, today said the power sector is needed to increase quality services by thinking out of the box.
“We have to be motivated…. we have to work for the welfare of the country and people. It is essential for the newly appointed officers to expand their thoughts with new innovative ideas,” he made the remarksat the inaugural ceremony of a basic training course through video conference from his residence.
The state minister said, “We need to increase quality services for consumers by thinking out of the box.”
Bangladesh Power Management Institute (BPMI) organised the 50-day “Basic Training Course” for 57 assistant engineers/assistant managers of Dhaka Electricity Supply Company (DESCO), who were appointed recently.
Nasrul Hamid emphasized on enhancing the quality of BPMI by designing international standard courses and curriculum.
The distribution system is being automated/digitized so officers must always be involved with this modernization, he said.
The state minister said Bangladesh has achieved an unprecedented success in the power sector and the government has established BPMI for creating more skilled manpower.
“We want to build the BPMI as an international standard training institute. Our distribution, transmission and manufacturing companies have gained much more capacity. Engineers also need to increase their capabilities,” he said.
The training course was conducted by eminent academics of the country, high officials, experienced officers of various companies and corporate trainers.
Rector of BPMI Md Mahbub-ul-Alam presided over the virtual event, while Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office Dr Ahmed Kaikaus, Power Division Secretary Dr Sultan Uddin and additional secretary Maksuda Khatun spoke in the ceremony.
