COVID-19 positive cases stand at 6,008 in Khulna

KHULNA, July 8, 2020 (BSS) – With detection of 257 new more positive cases in the past one day, the total number of COVID-19 infected patients in the division now reached 6,008.

“We received 277 samples in Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMC) and other samples in Jashore and Kushtia laboratories in the last 24 hours till this noon and 257 persons have been diagnosed with COVID-19 infection,” Assistant Director (Health) of Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter told BSS.

The health officials said among the newly detected 257 COVID-19 patients, 68 are in Khulna, 50 in Jashore, 31 each in Bagerhat and Satkhira, 26 in Kushtia, 18 in Narail, 14 in Jhenaidah, 11 in Chuadanga, seven in Magura and one in Meherpur districts in the division.

They said the district-wise break-up of the COVID-19 patients now stood at 2,680 in Khulna, 815 in Kushtia, 805 in Jashore, 333 in Jhenaidah, 323 in Narail, 279 in Satkhira, 269 in Satkhira, 233 in Bagerhat, 176 in Magura and 95 in Meherpur districts.

Meanwhile, a total of 2,122 have cured from coronavirus infections as 247 more people were discharged from the Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals after their recovery in all 10 districts of the division in the last 24 hours.

“The recovery rate among the total 6,008 coronavirus infected patients now stands at 35.20 percent in the division,” she said.

“Among the total 6,008 coronavirus infected persons, 664 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals as 2,122 have recovered and 109 died while the rest are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, she said.

With the nine more deaths includingfour each in Khulna and Kushtia and one in Satkhira districts in last 24 hour till today’s noon, the total number of fatalities now reached 109 in the division.

The district wise death toll recorded as 42 in Khulna, 19 in Kushtia, 13 in Jashore, seven in Narail, six in Magura, five each in Jhenaidah and Meherpur and five in Satkhira, four in Bagerhat and three in Chuadanga districts.
