Khulna launches digital market app for sacrificial animals

KHULNA, July 8, 2020 (BSS) – The district administration today launched a digital cattle market mobile app for selling and buying sacrificial animals ahead of the coming Eid-ul Azha keeping in mind the health and safety of the farmers and buyers during the prevailing situation of coronavirus outbreak.

The district administration in association with Khulna City Corporation and district livestock department has taken initiative to run the online cattle market mobile app namely “Online Qurbani Hat Khulna” to help the marginal cattle farmers of the district who are in dire straits due to the deadly coronavirus ahead of the coming Eid-Ul-Azha.

State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak attended the inaugural function through online from Dhaka as the chief guest.

Mayor of KCC Talukder Abdul Khaleque attended the launching ceremony as special guest.

Secretary (Coordination and Reforms) of the Cabinet Division Md. Kamal Hossain, also in-charge of Coronavirus Prevention and Relief Management in Khulna District, attended the programme via online from Dhaka while Khulna Divisional Commissioner Dr. Muhammad Anwar Hossain Howlader joined the inaugural ceremony virtually.

Chaired by the deputy commissioner Md Helal Hossain, Additional Police Commissioner Sardar Rakibul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Ziaur Rahman, Officer of Khulna District Livestock S M Aowal Haque, President of Khulna Press Club S M Nazrul Islam attended the function, among others.

All upazila Nirbahi Officers, officials of local government bodies joined the inaugural programme via online.

The chief guest Zunaid Ahmed Palak said the online cattle market platform is going to be the largest match making digital hut in Khulna for sacrificial animals.

This initiative will help to save the farmers from economic loss and to protect the health of all in the corona situation.

“We have taken the initiative to save cattle farmers, traders and marginal farmers from financial loss in this ongoing corona crisis and stop further transmission of the deadly virus” he said.

Later, KCC Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque inaugurated the online cattle market through the mobile app.

Here, buyers will have the opportunity to watch pictures, videos and live streaming of cattle weight at home. At the same time, there will be an opportunity to communicate directly with cattle traders, farmers. People can collect cattle from a specific place or based on home delivery.

Any potential seller can visit and register themselves for free at https://qurbanihatkhulna.com and upload photographs, videos and information about their animals on the site for display.

The district administration is going to promote these registered animals through its websites and social networking sites at its own cost, giving a better chance for the seller to reach their customers easily.

The sellers and buyers both can do the trade sitting in their homes during this corona crisis, giving them protection from getting infected by going outside.
