One held with yaba tablets in Kurigram

RANGPUR, July 8, 2020 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-13) arrested an alleged top-listed drug trader with 970 pieces of contraband yaba tablets from Kabir Mamud village in Phulbari upazila of Kurigram district on Tuesday evening.

The arrested was identified as Md. Ashraful Haque, 35, son of Md. Ismail Hossain of nearby village Prankrishna in Phulbari upazila of Kurigram district.

“An operational team of the Crime Prevention Specialised Company of RAB-13 arrested the drug trader from the village,” said a press release issued by Company Commander of the CPSC of RAB-13 Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Hafizur Rahman today.

During the raid, the elite force also seized a mobile phone set, two SIM cards and one memory card from Ashraful’s possession.

While interrogating, the arrested man admitted that he had been an active member of an organised syndicate of drug traders and trading drugs and narcotics substances in the frontier areas of Kurigram district for a long time.

“After filing a case in this connection, the elite force handed him over to Phulbari Police Station in Kurigram,” the release added.
