Case filed against Regent Hospital on charge of fraudulence

DHAKA, July 8, 2020 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) filed a case against the authorities of Regent Hospital in the capital on charge of issuing fake COVID-19 test results and realizing money from patients taking unfair means in the name of coronavirus test and treatment.
A total of 17 officials of the hospital, including its chairman Md Shahed, have been made accused in the case.

Inspector Zulhas Mia of RAB-1 filed the case with Uttara West Police Station on Tuesday night, it’s officer-in–charge (OC) Tapan Chandra Saha told BSS.

The accused are – Ahsan Habib, 45, works in hospital’s admin, X-Ray Technician Hasan, 49, Health Technologist Hatim Ali, 25, Receptionist Kamrul Islam, 35, Rakibul Islam of Regent Groups’ Project Admin, Regent Group HR (Admin) Amit Anik, 33, Driver Abdus Salam, 25, Executive Officer Abdur Rashid Khan Jewel, 28, its Chairman Md Shahed, 43, Managing Director Masud Parvez, 40 and Hospital Staff Torikul Islam, 33, AbdurRashid Khan, 29, Shimul Parvez, 25, Deepayan Basu, 32, and Mahbub, 38. The name of the remaining two accused could not be known immediately.
Meanwhile, RAB arrested eight people concerned with the hospital including its Managing Director (MD) Masud Parvez while the chairman and eight others were on the run.

Later, the arrested persons were produced at the court, seeking seven days of remand.
