change, the government has a plan to plant 50,000 saplings of

“The government has taken a programme of planting saplings across

under the programme”, said Agriculture Minister Dr M Abdur Razzaque

from his official residence here today.

As part of the programme, the minister said, the agriculture
ministry will plant a total of nearly 50,000 saplings in the first

phase, 100 saplings will be planted in every union across the country,
he added.

In line with the prime minister’s directives, he said, initiative
has been taken to plant indigenous, fruit and timber bearing saplings
and medicinal ones in every village, union, upazila and district
level.

About cultivation of excessive ‘Aus paddy’ in the current season, Dr
Razzaque said the government has taken precautionary measures to
protect the Aus and Aman crops from the flood. The precautionary
measures included preparation of alternative seed beds, regular
weather monitoring and intensive communication with India.
