50pc cases tested in Wari found COVID-19 positive: Taposh

DHAKA, July 7, 2020 (BSS) – About 50 percent of cases tested for COVID-19 in the capital’s Wari lockdown area were found positive.

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh revealed the information while talking to reporters at Nagar Bhaban here today after a meeting of the central management committee on lockdown enforcement.

He said the rate of coronavirus infection found in Wari area in the last three days has further proved the justification of the lockdown.

“We have observed that more than 50 percent of people, who were tested COVID-19, were infected with coronavirus. So, the lockdown must be enforced. Then we would be to make the area free from coronavirus,” the DSCC mayor said.

Calling upon the locals to obey the lockdown keeping patience and tolerance, he said: “We are going to enforce the lockdown more strictly. We understand that the locals are facing various problems. They have been facing many difficulties in their trade, movement and livelihoods due to the lockdown.”

Taposh requested the city dwellers to implement it with patience and forbearance as there is no alternative to following health guidelines and the instructions to tackle the coronavirus pandemic.

A 21-day Lockdown began in a part of Wari area of the capital on July 4 last and it will continue till July 25.
