Atiqul’s elder brother Shafiqul Islam passes away
DHAKA, July 7, 2020 (BSS) – Engineer Md Shafiqul Islam, elder brother of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md Atiqul Islam, died of old-age complications while undergoing treatment at a city hospital in the early hours of today.
He breathed his last at 1am last night at the age of 82, said a press release here.
Shafiqul left behind his wife, two sons, siblings and grand children along with a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.
He was laid to eternal rest at Banani graveyard following his namz-e-janaza at Baitul Atiq Mosque at Road No 8 in the city’s Baridhara after Johr prayers.
Born on December 29 in 1938 in Cumilla, Shafiqul was Managing Director of Islam Garments Limited and Group.
Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md Tazul Islam and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Md Shafiqul Islam.
In separate condolence messages, they prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
