Two snatchers killed in gunfight with police in city
DHAKA, July 6, 2020 (BSS) – Two alleged snatchers were killed in a gunfight held between the detective branch (DB) of police and the snatchers’ at city’s Khilkhet area early today.
They were identified as M Nannu Mia, 45 and Mosharraf Hossen, 40.
The police have also arrested two more snatchers from the spot.
M Borhan Uddin, Officer in Charge (OC) of the Khilkhet Police Station today confirmed that the incident was held at Kuratoli (BRTC) area in Khilkhet at about 2.30am.
A DB police team was suspiciously challenged the snatchers while the team was patrolling at Kuratoli area and at one stage the snatchers fired on police while they were trying to escape. During the encounter the two snatchers were critically injured as the police retaliated on them, said the OC.
The critically injured two were shifted to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and the duty doctor declared them dead at around 3am.These two bodies have been kept at the DMCH morgue for autopsy.
The police recovered arms and ammunitions from the spot.
