Govt continues relief work amid COVID-19 crisis

DHAKA, July 04, 2020 (BSS) – The government is continuing relief distribution across the country as part of its humanitarian assistance to mitigate people’s sufferings in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Nearly 2,11,017 tonnes of rice have been allocated as relief and of the volume, 1,98,120 tonnes have been distributed among more than 7.38 crore people of over 1.68 crore families across the country as of July 03, said an official handout quoted the information provided by 64 district administrations.

The government has also so far allocated about Taka 123 crore in cash for distribution.

Of the total amount, more than Taka 95.83 crore has been allocated as cash assistance and nearly Tk 93.92 has been distributed among over 4.42 crore people of more than one crore families across the country.

Besides, Taka 27.14 crore was allocated for purchasing baby food while nearly Taka 26.40 crore has already been distributed among about 17.58 lakh people of more than 8.42 lakh families across the country.
