Khulna district admin distributes leaflets among jute mill workers
KHULNA, July 3, 2020 (BSS) – To inform the general workers about the steps or decisions taken by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina regarding the payment of dues of the workers of the state-owned jute mills, the Khulna district administration distributed circulars among the workers in the form of leaflets.
All Khulna state-run jute mills workers become very happy and burst into tears when deputy commissioner (DC) Md Helal Hossain distributed leaflets about the gazette notification this afternoon.
Many workers are overwhelmed with emotion knowing that the half of the total receivable amount will be given in cash and the remaining half will be distributed through profit-based savings certificates every three months.
The common workers prayed to the great Almighty for the Prime Minister for this courageous initiative.
In view of the mounting losses of BJMC, the state-owned jute mills will be modernized in line with the native and global demands after a golden handshake programme.
To improve the lot of the workers, the loss-making state-owned jute mills will be re-launched through PPP.
All dues of retired workers (8954) since 2014, all due salaries of current workers (24,886), provident fund, gratuity and at maximum 27 percent rate of gratuity will be paid cent percent all together as retirement facilities and around Taka 5,000 crore will be provided from the government budget to this end.
After the voluntary retirement, initiatives will be taken to run the mills under PPP or joint venture or G to G or lease model under the control of the government.
The current workers, who will retire voluntarily, will get priority of jobs in the mills to be modernized and reopened in the new model as new employment opportunities will also be created in those mills.
