Senior journalist Faruk Quazi passes away

DHAKA, July 3, 2020 (BSS) – Senior journalist Faruk Quazi passed away at his own residence here this morning at the age of 71.

He breathed his last around 8am while he was sleeping at his Elephant road residence in city.

Faruk Quazi’s only daughter Software Engineer Arshee Quazi said, “My father had leg pain for last two weeks and finally he felt pain near his waist. After that, he was taken to doctor and he was diagnosed with kidney problem after conducting tests. Then the doctor gave him pain relaxer drug. My father was in sleep for long 58 hours due to the effect of that drug and he was found dead in sleep this morning”.

He is survived by wife, a daughter as well as a host of relatives and admirers.

Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Faruk Quazi.

He worked for national news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) and the private news agency United News Bangladesh (UNB).

He worked as press minister at Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi and was also former Deputy Press Secretary (DPS) to the Prime Minister.
Before his death, he was an associate editor and In-charge (news) of the daily observer.

Faruk Quazi will be buried at Shahid Buddhijibi Graveyard in Mirpur following his namaj-e-Janaza at Kataban mosque after jummah prayers today.
