Journalists working for welfare of sports: Russell
DHAKA, July 2, 2020 (BSS) –State Minister for Youth and Sports M Zahid Ahsan Russell today said sports journalists of the country would continuously try to take the sports of the country to a different height through journalism.
“The sports journalists are now working beyond the boundary of the country …they are working as the sports envoy across the globe”, he said while greeting and congratulating all the sports journalists working in different print, electronic and online media marking the World Sports Journalists Day-2020.
In a greeting message, the state minister said, “The role and importance of the sports journalists in the modern world is enormous as they [the sports journalists and writers] are being recognised as eye of the playground, sound and voice of the people.”
Recalling the contribution of the sports journalists during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Russell said the sports journalists had performed their duty with utmost sincerity despite the corona pandemic.
A large number of journalists had died due to the coronavirus during their duty across the globe, he added.
