Highest 79 positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, July 1, 2020 (BSS) – The highest number of 79 more people
were tested positive for coronavirus in a day after testing their
samples today at the two COVID-19 Laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur
of Rangpur division.

Health officials said the new 79 infected cases were reported after
diagnosing 376 samples collected from all eight districts in the
division at the two laboratories.

Of them, 41 new patients were reported after diagnosing 180 samples
at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in
Rangpur city.

“The new 41 patients include 26 of Rangpur, six of Gaibandha, four
of Lalmonirhat and five of Kurigram districts,” Chief of Divisional
Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC
Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu said.

Besides, 38 more new patients were reported after diagnosing 188
samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College
(MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 38 new COVID-19 patients include 27 of Dinajpur, five of
Nilphamari, four of Panchagarh and two of Thakurgaon districts,”
Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Shibesh Sarker told BSS after
completing the testing process at 7:30 pm.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur
division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients
rose to 2,844 as 79 new cases were reported from across the division
today.

“The district-wise break up of 2,844 patients stands at 959 in
Rangpur, 146 in Panchagarh, 347 in Nilphamari, 117 in Lalmonirhat, 148
in Kurigram, 206 in Thakurgaon, 640 in Dinajpur and 281 Gaibandha,”
Dr. Siddiqui added.
