Kamal, Mannan condole Latifur’s death
DHAKA, July 1, 2020 (BSS) – Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal and Planning Minister MA Mannan today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Latifur Rahman, a renowned businessman and chairman of Transcom Group.
In separate messages of condolence, both the ministers prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
Latifur Rahman (Shamim) passed away in his sleep at 11 am today at his paternal home in Cumilla at the age of 75.
He was founder chairman and CEO of Transcom Group, a well-known and highly respected business house of Bangladesh.
He was also founding director of Mediaworld, the owning company of The Daily Star, and chairman of Mediastar, the owning company of the Prothom Alo.
Rahman was an honouree of “Oslo Business for Peace Award 2012” and was awarded Business Executive of the Year 2001 by the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh.
