231 more test positive for COVID-19 in Khulna division

KHULNA, July 1, 2020 (BSS) – Two hundred and thirty-one more people were tested positive for coronavirus after testing their samples at three COVID -19 laboratories in the division in last 24 hours till today’s noon, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 4,507.

“We received 282 samples of suspected coronavirus patients at Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) and other samples in Jashore and Kushtia laboratories in the last 24 hours and 231 of those were found COVID-19 positive,” Assistant Director (Health) of Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akther told BSS today.

“The district-wise break-up of the patients now stands at 2,010 in Khulna, 194 in Bagerhat, 184 in Satkhira, 648 in Jashore, 209 in Jhenaidah, 144 in Magura, 198 in Narail, 622 in Kushtia, 222 in Chuadanga and 76 in Meherpur,” Dr. Ferdousi added.

Health officials said the newly detected 231 COVID-19 patients include 115 in Khulna, 42 in Jashore, 14 in Jhenaidah, seven in Chuadanga, 24 in Kushtia, eight in Magura, two in Meherpur and 19 in Narail districts in the division.

Since the beginning, we have put a total of 42,804 people in quarantines, and of them, 40,055 released and 2,749 are currently remaining in home or institutional quarantines in the division,” she said.

During the last 24 hours till today’s noon, 137 people were put in quarantine at home or institutions and 200 others released in all ten districts in the division.

“After getting a total of 1,21,756 pieces of personal protective equipment so far, we have already distributed 75,071 pieces of the same among the health service providers with a stock of 46,685 pieces in the division,” Dr. Ferdousi added.

She said all of the authorities concerned are working in a coordinated way to check COVID-19 spread in the division.

“Every citizen should stay at home, maintain physical distance, wear masks while going outside on emergency needs and properly abide by the health directives to contain community transmission of the deadly virus for safety of all,” she added.
