DHAKA, June 30, 2020 (BSS) – The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) today stayed for 16 weeks the High Court order that imposed injunction on Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA)’s decision to increase price of water by 25 percent.
“The High Court on June 22 had imposed the injunction on Dhaka WASA’s decision to realize increased water tariff from April 1, till August 10. But the Appellate Division today stayed that order for 16 weeks, clearing the way for realizing the increased price of the water,” said Barrister Anik R Hoq, who moved a petition against the WASA decision.
Earlier on June 23, the apex court set today to hold further hearing on the writ petition, filed by Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Tanvir Ahmed.
