Covid-19 cases reach 4,274 in Khulna division

KHULNA, June 30, 2020 (BSS) – With detection of 198 new more positive cases in last 24 hour till today’s noon, the total number of COVID-19 infected patients in the division climbed to 4,274, said a COVID-19 quarantine and isolation related daily report here today.

“We received 282 samples at Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMC) and other samples in Jashore and Kushtia laboratories in the last 24 hours till this noon and 198 of those were found COVID-19 positive,” Assistant Director (Health) of Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter told BSS this noon.

Health officials said the newly detected 198 COVID-19 patients include 109 in Khulna, one in Satkhira, 45 in Jashore, 10 in Jhenaidah, six in Magura, one in Narail and 21 in Kushtia, three in Chuadanga and two in Meherpur districts in the division.

The official said the district-wise break-up of the Covid-19 patients now stands at 1,895 in Khulna, 194 in Bagerhat, 184 in Satkhira, 606 in Jashore, 195 in Jhenaidah, 136 in Magura, 179 in Narail, 598 in Kushtia, 215 in Chuadanga and 72 in Meherpur districts.

Dr Ferdousi said the whereabouts of the persons, who came in contact with Covid-19 patients, were brought to notice and they were asked to remain in home isolation so that the virus cannot spread further.

She added that utmost emphasis has been given to bring all the suspected people under quarantine, isolation and testing as these are being adjudged as important means of containing the community transmission of the virus.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,158 have cured from coronavirus infections as 77 more people were discharged from the Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals after their recovery in all 10 districts of the division in the last 24 hours.

She said the average recovery rate of COVID-19 patients is 27.09 percent while fatality rate 1.68 percent in the division.

“Among the total 4,276 coronavirus infected persons, 491 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals as 1,158 have recovered and 72 died while the rest of the patients are remaining in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, she said.

With the seven more death, the total number of fatalities reached 72 in the division including 25 in Khulna, three in Bagerhat, four in Satkhira, 12 in Jashore, two in Jhenaidah, three in Magura, seven in Narail, nine in Kushtia, two in Chuadanga and five in Meherpur districts.
