DHAKA, June 29, 2020 (BSS) – A number of cabinet members today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the loss of lives in a launch capsize in the Buriganga River.
In separate condolence messages, Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan, Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed, State Minister for Social Welfare Md Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru, State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives ShawpanBhattacharjee, State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Zahid Ahsan Russel and State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and conveyed deep sympathy to their bereaved families.
The launch named ‘Morning Bird’ carrying over 50 passengers sank in the Buriganga River near Shyambazar here this morning, fire service sources said.
The Fire Service and Civil Defense personnel have so far recovered 32 bodies from the river after the launch accident.
