Speaker mourns loss of lives in Buriganga launch capsize
DHAKA, June 29, 2020 (BSS) – Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the loss of lives in a launch capsize in the Buriganga River.
The launch named ‘Morning Bird’ carrying over 50 passengers sank in the Buriganga River near Shyambazar here this morning, fire service sources said.
In a condolence message, the speaker prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls of the victims and conveyed deep sympathy to their bereaved families.
Besides, JS Deputy Speaker Md Fazle Rabbi Miah and Chief Whip Nur-E-Alam Chowdhury also expressed deep shock and sorrow at the at the loss of lives in the launch capsize in the Buriganga River.
The Fire Service and Civil Defense personnel have so far recovered 30 bodies from the river after the launch accident.
