6 killed in Tangail road accidents
TANGAIL, June 25, 2018 (BSS) – Six people were killed and 28 others
injured in two separate road accidents in Kalihati and Ghatail upazila of the
district today.
Five construction workers were killed and 25 others injured as a truck
plunged into a roadside ditch in Satutia Bridge area under Kalihati upazila
headquarters of the district early this morning.
The deceased are Abul Hossain, 55, his son Abdur Razzak, 25, Rafikul
Islam, 35, son of Ebrahim Bapari, Saidur Rahman, 35, son of Abdur Rahim and
Abul Kalam, 34, son of Abdul, residents of different areas in Gaibandha
district.
Officer-in-Charge of Kalihati Police Station Mir Mosharraf Hossain said
the accident occurred when a truck carrying a group of construction workers
fell into the ditch around 6 am as its driver lost control over the steering,
leaving four workers dead on the spot and 26 others injured.
The injured were admitted to Tangail General Hospital where one of the
injured workers died.
In another accident, a man was killed and three others were injured as a
pickup van, carrying them, fell into a roadside ditch in Mogolpara area under
Ghatail upazila of the district this morning, said Shekander Ali, Sub
Inspector of Ghatail police station.
The deceased was identified as Khalilur Rahman, 35, a resident of Dubail
village under Gopalpur upazila in Tangail district.
The injured were sent to Ghatail upazila health complex.
