64 more positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, June 28, 2020 (BSS) – Sixty-four more people were tested
positive for coronavirus after testing their samples today at the two
COVID-19 Laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur of Rangpur division.

Health officials said the new 64 infected cases of six northern
districts in the division were reported after diagnosing 376 samples
collected from all eight districts in the division at the two
laboratories.

Of them, the maximum number of 43 new patients was reported in a
day after diagnosing 180 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur
Medical College (RpMC) today in Rangpur city.

“The new 43 patients include 25 of Rangpur, four of Gaibandha,
eight of Lalmonirhat and six of Kurigram districts,” Chief of
Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal
of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu said.

On the other hand, 21 more new patients were reported after
diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim
Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 21 new COVID-19 patients include 11 of Dinajpur, four of
Nilphamari, five of Panchagarh and one of Thakurgaon districts,”
Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Shibesh Sarker told BSS after
completing the testing process at 7 pm.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for
Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19
patients rose to 2,655 as 64 new cases were reported from across the
division today.

“”The district-wise break up of the patients stands at 896 in
Rangpur, 139 in Panchagarh, 334 in Nilphamari, 100 in Lalmonirhat, 137
in Kurigram, 201 in Thakurgaon, 589 in Dinajpur and 259 Gaibandha
districts in the division,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
