Mother of Saifuzzaman Shikhar MP passes away

MAGURA, June 28, 2020 (BSS) – Mosammat Monoara Zaman, mother of Saifuzzaman Shikhar, lawmaker from Magura-1 constituency and wife of former Deputy Leader of the Opposition in 1979 parliament Advocate Asaduzzaman today passed away at her residence here due to old age complications.

She was 75.

She had been suffering from old age complications including Kidney, Liver and Diabetics for long time, family sources said.

She left behind five sons, two daughters, a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn her death.

Her husband Advocate Asaduzzaman was elected member of parliaments (MP) from Awami League (AL) ticket from Magura-2 (Shalikha-Mohammadpur) constituency for four times. He was also the deputy leader of the opposition in the parliament in 1979.

Her third son Saifuzzaman Shikhar was the Assistant Private Secretary (APS)-2 to the Prime Minister and elected MP from Magura-1 (Magura-Sripur) constituency in 2018 parliament election.

Her elder daughter Kamrul Laila Joly was also MP from a women reserve seat (Jashore-Magura) in the last parliament.

She will be buried at Magura Poura Graveyard here after a namaj-e-janaza at Magura PTI Ground at 10 am tomorrow.
