Fire in city’s Bata showroom doused, huge shoes gutted
DHAKA, June 28, 2020 (BSS) – The fire that broke out at a BATA show room in city’s Khilgaon-Banasree area last night was extinguished, but a huge number of shoes and other goods of the foot ware outlet were burnt into ashes before dousing the fire.
“All of a sudden, the fire broke out at the BATA showroom and godown located at ground and 1st floor of a six-storey building at B block of Khilgaon-Banasree area around 10.17pm,” said Fire Service Department duty officer Lima Khan.
A total of seven fire fighting units from Khilgaon, Tejgaon and the Civil Service Headquarters rushed to the spot and doused the flame around 1.30am after more than three hours effort, she said.
A large number of shoes and other materials kept inside show room and godown were gutted in fire but no causality was reported, said the fire department official.
She said that the fire might have originated from an electric short-circuit.
