COVID-19 hospitals have enough seats for admission
DHAKA, June 26, 2020 (BSS) – Coronavirus (COVID-19) infected patients can get admitted easily to the hospitals selected for COVID-19 treatment as many vacant seats are available there, said Additional Director General of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Nasima Sultana.
She disclosed the information at DGHS regular health bulletin here today.
There are 14,610 general beds and 379 intensive care units (ICUs) at the hospitals across the country for the coronavirus patients, she said.
Of these, 4,691 coronavirus patients are taking treatment in general beds and 9,919 beds currently remain vacant, she said, adding that a total of 183 patients remain admitted to the ICU unit and 196 ICU beds are left vacant.
There are 16 hospitals for coronavirus treatment in Dhaka metropolitan city and one in Dhaka district. In Dhaka city, the number of general beds and ICU beds for coronavirus patients are 6,773 and 180 respectively, she added.
She also informed that there are 2,375 patients admitted to general beds and 97 corona patients are receiving treatment at ICU units there.
