NILPHAMARI, June 26, 2020 (BSS) – The government, through different institutions, continues to produce 1.28 crore skilled youth male and female workforce to employ them both at home and abroad in five years beginning in the Mujib Year -2020.
Officials disclosed the information at a seminar arranged to enhance public awareness on safe, regular and quality migration of skilled youth workforce at the conference room of Nilphamari Technical Training Centre (TTC) here on Thursday.
Sadar upazila administration organised the seminar maintaining physical distancing and abiding by the health directives of the government to prevent community transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19).
The event was arranged as a part of implementing the five-year employment generation plan taken by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to produce 1.28 crore skilled workforces and send 1,000 of them abroad from every upazila annually starting in the Mujib Year.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Hafizur Rahman Chowdhury attended the seminar as the chief guest with Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Elena Akhter was in the chair.
Sadar upazila Chairman Shahid Mahmud, Vice-president of district Awami League Hafizur Rashid Manju, Principal of Nilphamari TTC Engineer Md. Ziaur Rahman, Principal of Mashiur Rahman Degree College Shahidul Islam, Deputy General Manager of Evergreen House Keeper Training Centre Major (Retd) Harun Ar Rashid spoke.
Principal Engineer Rahman said Nilphamari TTC is working to materialise the Prime Minister’s plan by producing skilled workforces by imparting training on various technical and vocational trades.
Since the inception of Nilphamari TTC in 2016, a total of 33 trained youths from the institution have been employed abroad and 13 others are ready to join their overseas jobs.
The Deputy Commissioner said more than 1.20 crore Bangladeshis are currently employed in 173 countries across the globe and they are sending remittance in the tune of 16 billion US dollars annually.
“We have to utilise our demographic dividend properly by turning the youths into skilled workforce for their employment at home and safe migration abroad to further strengthen the national economy and accelerate the pace of development,” he added.
