Cattle market will be set up in compliance with all hygiene rules and social distances: Tajul

DHAKA, June 25, 2020 (BSS) – Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives (LGRD) Minister Md Tajul Islam today said all the cattle markets will be setup on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha this year in compliance with all hygiene rules and social distances.

He said this today at an online meeting in the ministry’s room today on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha-2020 to review the management of cattle markets, animal sacrifices at the specific places and preparations to ensure speedy removal of waste.

The meeting was also attended by the mayors of the two city corporations of Dhaka Atiqul Islam and Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, the mayors of all the city corporations of the country and officials of various ministries.

Tajul said, during the Corona pandemic, all the cattle markets in the country including the capital, will be set up in specific places keeping in view the health rules and maintaining social distance.

To avoid crowds, the local government minister advised everyone to buy animals on time instead of buying them a day or two before Eid-ul-Azha.

He also said that in addition to making it compulsory for buyers and sellers to wear masks at every animal market, there will be hand washing system and disinfectant will be sprayed.

Besides, a sufficient number of magistrates and law enforcers will be on the ground to ensure overall security at the cattle markets as well as to control any situation.

This year, as the animal market and eid have to be celebrated in a different context, awareness campaigns will be run in various media including television and radio to create awareness among the people.
