AL always welcomes youths: AL leaders

DHAKA, June 24, 2020 (BSS) – Awami League (AL) leaders in a webinar
said that the party always give importance to the youths of the
country and lauded their role during the War of Liberation in 1971.

They came up with the remarks in the webinar on ‘Youth Expectations
from Bangladesh Awami League’ held last night marking the AL’s 71st
founding anniversary.

The discussants of the program were AL Organizing Secretaries Abu
Sayeed Al Mahmud Shapan, MP, and Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel, Office
Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua, Forest and Environment Secretary
Delwar Hossain, Research and Information Secretary Dr Selim Mahmud,
International Affairs Secretary Dr Shammi Ahmed and Central Working
Committee members Golam Kabir Rabbani Chinu and Marufa Akter Popi.

Prime Minister’s Special Assistant and a member of Awami League’s
International Affairs Sub-committee Barrister Shah Ali Farhad
conducted the webinar.

About the Awami League’s to take the country forward by utilizing
the power of youths, Lawmaker and AL Organizing Secretary Abu Sayeed
Al Mahmud Shapan said that AL was formed with the aim of liberating
the country and the role of the youths under the leadership of Awami
League in 71’s ‘War of Liberation’ was unique.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said, has already made
arrangements for ensuring better life and employment for the youths.

AL Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua said the youths are
getting benefits from the dream of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s
‘Digital Bangladesh’.

The premier believes in the prosperity of Bangladesh and the power
of youths and that is why she has given priority to the youths in the
recent budget as always, he said, adding that she has allocated Taka
2,000 crore for their employment.

Research and Information Secretary Dr Selim Mahmud said that the
youths were the main driving force during the liberation war of
Bangladesh. The present government’s plan is to reduce unemployment to
12 percent by 2023, he added.

He said the incumbent government, led by PM Sheikh Hasina, has
planned to involve 30 percent of youths in agriculture, 25% in
industry and 45% in the service sector by 2023.

Organizing Secretary Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel said the youths
are now reaping benefit due to the visionary leadership and pragmatic
steps of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The youths are showing interest
about politics by using their knowledge and wisdom, he added.

Forest and Environment Secretary Delwar Hossain said AL had been
progressing ages after ages by uniting all and maintaining the party’s

International Affairs Secretary Dr Shammi Ahmed said Father of the
Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was a visionary leader and he
had understood the foreign policy long ago.

He (Bangabandhu) asked to make friendship with everyone not to
malice none, she said, adding that following this foreign policy, PM
Sheikh Hasina has conquered the sea boundaries and exchanged enclaves
in proper way without fighting any war with anyone.

Central Working Committee member Golam Kabir Rabbani Chinu said
institutes for technical education have been set up in different
districts to create skilled human resources considering huge number of
growing youths.

He added that the Awami League government imparted skill-enhancing
training to 28 lakh youths in the last 11 years.

Another Central Working Committee member Marufa Akter Popi said
Bangladesh Awami League and PM Sheikh Hasina have always given
importance to youths, adding: “People-friendly leader Sheikh Hasina
thinks that it is possible to build a developed and prosperous
Bangladesh utilizing the talent and energy of youths.”
