Bourses move up slightly

DHAKA, June 24, 2020 (BSS) – Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) today closed trading witnessing slight upturn as investors are maintaining “wait and see” stance amid ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

At DSE, the broad index, DSEX settled at 3964.83 points on Wednesday with a tiny gain of 1.48 points or 0.03 percent.
Besides, two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and Shariah index, DSES edged up by 0.97 points and 0.35 points to settle at 1327.33 points and 918.56 points respectively.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 12,413 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 25.23 million securities.

Market turnover, another crucial indicator, stood at Taka 541 million which is lower than of previous day’s Taka 719 million.

Gainers took lead over losers as out of 271 issues traded, 23 securities gained price while 15 declined and 233 remained unchanged.

The market-cap of DSE increased slightly to 3,107 which was Taka 3,106 billion in the previous session.

The top 10 gainers were Eastern Lubricants, Paramount Insurance, Ambee Pharma, ICB Employees Provident Mutual Fund 1 Scheme 1, BSCCL, Power Grid, Exim Bank, Beximco Pharma, Central Insurance and National Credit and Commerce Bank.

Al-Arafa Islami Bank topped the turnover chart followed by Beximco Pharma, Exim Bank, BSCCL, Linde Bangladesh, National Credit and Commerce Bank, Islami Bank, GlaxoSmithKline, Reckitt Benckiser and JMI Syringe.

The 10 top losers were Beximco Synthetic, Tasrifa Industries, Mutual Trust Bank, Prime Insurance, Sunlife Insurance, Sonali Ansh, Desh Garments, Reckitt Benckiser, JMI Syringe and ACI Formulation.

On the other hand, port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed trading at green from the losing streak of previous day.

CSCX and CASPI went up by 3.62 points and 8.08 points to stand at 6817.62 points and 11256.14 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 11,943,185 shares and mutual funds of 104 companies were traded, of which 20 issues advanced while 11 declined and 73 issues remained unchanged.
