Covid-19 cases reach 2,903 in Khulna division with 7 more die

KHULNA, June 24, 2020 (BSS) – With detection of record 219 new more positive cases and seven more death were reported in a single day in last 24 hours till today’s noon, the total number of COVID-19 infected patients in the division climbed to 2903, said a COVID-19 quarantine and isolation related daily report here today.

“The total number of COVID-19 patients now stood at 2,903 and the total number of fatalities remains at 43 in all the 10 districts of Khulna division,” said Assistant Director (Health) of Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter.

“We received 282 samples at Khulna Medical College (KMC) and other samples in Jashore and Kushtia laboratories in the last 24 hours till this afternoon and 219 of those were found COVID-19 positive,” she added.

The newly detected 219 COVID-19 patients include 58 in Khulna, 31 in Bagerhat, eight in Satkhira, 45 in Jashore, 16 in Jhenaidah, 10 in Magura, two in Narail, 39 in Kushtia, seven in Chuadanga and three in Meherpur districts in the division.

Health officials said with the new detected cases, the district-wise break-up of reported Covid-19 cases now stood at 1,206 in Khulna, 149 in Bagerhat,114 in Satkhira, 416 in Jashore, 148 in Jhenaidah, 82 in Magura, 108 in Narail, 434 in Kushtia, 196 in Chuadanga and 50 in Meherpur.

Meanwhile, a total of 706 have cured from coronavirus infections as 43 more people were discharged from the Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals after their recovery in all 10 districts of the division in the last 24 hours.

“Among the total 2,903 coronavirus infected persons, 353 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals as 706 have recovered and 43 died while the rest of the patients are remaining in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, Dr. Ferdousi said.

With the seven deaths, the total number of fatalities reached 43 in the division including 16 in Khulna, five in Narail, six in Kushtia, five in Meherpur, three in Bagerhat, two each in Jashore, Jhenaidah, Magura and Chuadanga districts.

On the other hand, four people died with coronavirus symptoms at flu corner of Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) in the city in last 24 hour till noon today.

The deceased were identified as Panna Wazed, 60, son of late Sultan Ali, a resident of city’s Babu Khan Road, Mahasin Khokon, 55, son of late Syed Ali, resident of city’s Tutpara, Kashem Sheikh,38, son of late Akkas Sheikh hailed from Maheshkhola village at Sadar Upazila in Narail district and Morium, wife of Abdul Hai, a resident of city’s KUET Mor.

Dr Mizanur Rahman, focal person of flu corner and RMO of KMCH said they died after suffering from fever and cold-related disease.

“Samples have been collected from their bodies for coronavirus test, he said, adding that they were admitted from 22 June with fever, cold related diseases and respiratory problems.
