Founding anniversary of Awami League celebrated in Sylhet

SYLHET, July 23, 2020 (BSS) – Sylhet Zila and Metropolitan Awami League (AL) have observed the 71st founding anniversary program of Awami League in a limited surrounding.

Sylhet Metropolitan Awami League and Sylhet Zila Awami League paid homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at his murals respectively in front of Sylhet Deputy Commissioner’s Office and Sylhet Zila Parishad Bhaban.

Besides, Awami League affiliates also paid homage by placing floral wreath at Bangabandhu’s mural on behalf of Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen, MP.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s founding anniversary was organized in a limited manner in compliance with the hygiene rules.

Without any rally or discussion meeting, the senior leaders of the party paid homage to the portrait of the Father of the Nation while maintaining social distance.

Sylhet District Awami League President and Sylhet Zila Parishad Chairman Advocate Lutfur Rahman, General Secretary Advocate Nasir Uddin Khan, Sylhet Metropolitan Awami League President Bir Muktijoddha Masuk Uddin Ahmed, General Secretary Professor Zakir Hossain, Former Vice President of Sylhet Metropolitan Awami League Advocate Raj Uddin, freedom fighter Abdul Khalik, former joint general secretary of Sylhet district Awami League Advocate Nizam Uddin, Former Joint General Secretary of Sylhet Metropolitan Awami League Faizul Anwar, Bijit Chowdhury, Former Office Secretary Advocate Samsul Islam, Former Publicity Secretary Advocate Mahfuzur Rahman Mahfuz, Abdur Rahman Jamil, Former Forest and Environment Secretary Jagdish Chandra Das, Former Liberation War Affairs Secretary Azhar Uddin Jahangir including the leaders of the affiliated organizations of the Awami League were present, while paying tribute.
