71st founding anniversary of AL celebrated in Rangpur

RANGPUR, June 23, 2020 (BSS) – The 71st founding anniversary of Bangladesh Awami League (AL) was celebrated today in befitting manner here maintaining physical distance and health directives in the wake of coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The district and city units of AL hoisted the national and party flags at their respective offices and placed wreaths at Bangabandhu’s Mural on the Bangabandhu Square in the city. Besides, a colourful rally was brought out in the streets.

Later, separate discussions were arranged at their offices with President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed and President of city AL Shafiur Rahman Shafi in the chairs respectively.

General Secretary of district AL Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju and General Secretary of city AL Tushar Kanto Mandal delivered keynote speeches in the discussions respectively.

They narrated the glorious history of AL that brought independence for the nation under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman aiming at building a developed Sonar Bangla.

Leaders of the district, city and upazila units AL, its associate bodies, including Swechchasebak League, Jubo League, Chhatra League, Mohila Awami League, Sramik League and other organisations addressed the discussion.

The speakers said Bangabandhu and AL are inseparable as perpetual sources of all inspirations and the nation is now building a developed ‘Sonar Bangla’ under leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Advocate Rezaul Karim discussed the glorious history of AL since its inception and said that the country achieved Independence through the War of Liberation in 1971 under leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

He urged leaders and workers of AL and its associate bodies for ensuring welfare of common people and standing beside the poor, distressed and jobless people to assist them in tackling the situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed suggested leaders of AL and its associate bodies for working selflessly in light of the ideals of Bangabandhu especially under the present situation by extending all possible assistance to the suffering people.

Besides, the district and city units of Mohila Awami League, Swechchasebak League, Sramik League, Jubo League, Chhatra League and other associate bodies of AL celebrated the founding anniversary.
