Hearing on HC injunction on WASA price hike on June 30
DHAKA, June 23, 2020 (BSS) – The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) today set June 30 to hold further hearing on petition pleading to stay High Court injunction on Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA)’s decision to increase price of water by 25 percent.
Justice Md Nuruzzaman of Appellate Division Chamber Judge Court passed the order after holding primary hearing on the WASA plea. The High Court on June 22 imposed the injunction on Dhaka WASA’s decision to realize increased water tariff from April 1, till August 10.
The court passed that order after holding a hearing on a writ filed by Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Tanvir Ahmed. “The Appellate Division Chamber Judge court today did not pass any order on the WASA charge increase case and fixed it for further hearing on June 30, meaning the injunction given by the High Court remains in place,” Barrister Anik R Hoq, counsel for the petitioner, told newsmen.
