BWDB distributes relief among jobless families in Rangpur

RANGPUR, June 23, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) distributed foodstuffs among 400 jobless and distressed families of Saddyapuskorini union in Sadar upazila of Rangpur district on Monday afternoon.

Engineers of the organisation contributed to procure the foodstuffs for distribution among the distressed families of rural areas as humanitarian assistance to stand beside them in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Chief Engineer of Rangpur Zone of BWDB Engineer Jyoti Prosad Ghosh distributed the foodstuffs in a function arranged at MN High School and College ground in the union strictly maintaining physical distance and abiding by the health directives.

Each of the beneficiary families received a sac containing rice, pulse, potato, edible oil, iodized salt and soaps in the function.

Sub-divisional Engineer (SDE-1) Md. Golam Zakaria at Rangpur divisional office of BWDB, its Deputy Director of the Regional Accounting Centre for Rangpur Abdul Al Mamun and Rangpur Sadar upazila Chairman Nasima Zaman Boby were present.

On the occasion, Engineer Jyoti Prosad Ghosh called upon the society’s affluent people to come forward and stand beside the poor, distressed, jobless and needy people along with the government efforts in tackling the situation caused by COVID-19 pandemic.

He especially urged the common people to stay at home, maintain physical distance, wash hands frequently and strictly abide by the health directives of the government to prevent community transmission of COVID-19.
