DHAKA, June 22, 2020 (BSS) – Former Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said he is physically well but he may need to go to hospital to have some test.

Mashrafe, also a ruling party lawmaker from Narail-2 constituency was diagnosed with COVID-19 but some media reports suggested that the former captain’s health condition worsened due to the virus.

Even there was some news that despite being an MP he is not getting a bed in the hospital. The news however left his fans panic-stricken after which the lanky fast bowler who is yet to retire from the cricket came up with his statement.

“For the time being, I am physically well and taking the treatment from my home,” Mashrafe wrote in his Facebook.

“For some tests, I might go to hospital, which is very normal. But the news of being admitted to hospital or not getting a bed in hospital is completely baseless. Please do not be confused or agitated by news of any kind. Everyone please pray for me. We have to stay together and win this war.”

Even though most successful captain of the country’s history has asthma problems, it has not flared after contracting coronavirus.

His family members said Mashrafe is in stable condition and under the guidance of Dr ABM Abdullah, who is Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s personal physician.

“Bhai is in stable state and till now he has no problem,” Mashrafe’s brother Morsalin Bin Mortaza said.

“Prime Minister’s personal physician is keeping update of his condition daily. A checkup is done when one contracts Covid-19 and Mashrafe bhai has been recommended an X-ray. It’s nothing serious. He has asthma but there is no relation to this,” Dr Abdullah also said, Mashrafe is fine now.

“I talked to him yesterday and he was doing well. I told him that he should only go to the hospital if he had breathing difficulties, otherwise, he should take treatment at home,” Dr. Abdullah told the reporters.

BCB chief physician Dr. Devashis Chowdhury said they are keeping contact with Mashrafe after he contracted the deadly virus that killed more than 1500 people and infected more than 1 lakh in Bangladesh.

“He is fine and need to go to hospital for some tests. He has asthma problem but that hasn’t flared up. We have been in contact with him,” Dr. Devashis Chowdhury said.
